Do you know what they're saying about NYFW this season?
Brand recommendations for the secondhand designer adorers.
I've noticed that people have been talking up American fashion more lately. Brands that have stuck out to me are doing more than creating new trends, these designers understood the American lifestyle and culture; they proposed having fun with the idea of fashion. The shoes and the jackets that you want wear mean what you want to express. I'll talk about two designers that I'd invest more in. I feel that these to designers carry the right principles of high fashion.
First, is Tory Burch; cool because it brings newest without giving people what they don't need(something they can probably wear in everyday life). Style on the runway shares the imaginative thinking of American style. Building an outfit could be as simple as playing with shape and contrast. Different materials that bring together different textures. Nothing is too out there, and Tory Burch gives you some variety to choose from.
The second brand I'd like to talk about is Marc Jacobs. This was an easy choice because when it comes to brands that do it right, and have the same longevity as some of the other greats; I think they have put the consumer first. Cool is always being redefined in fashion, but to me Marc Jacobs has kept up with it. Marc Jacobs has always found a way to help impact current culture through his clothes.
Observations on the SS 2027 season.
Lots of abstract cuts and tailored silhouettes. I think this comes from high fashion labels and their readiness to move on from the mundane and simple styles that brought back stability to the brands. We could be coming up on another shift where the consumers of these brands are back to prioritizing fun things to wear rather than investing in one obvious set look.
There continues to be a lot of interesting accessory styling choices. I saw different waist accessories this season; from antique-inspired lace ties to an edited shoulder bag design meant to be worn double wrapped through the waist. I also saw the re-edition of typical motif belts but 3 times as big, or 3 times as many of them combined.
Predictions are the things that I imagine could come back, but I'm not entirely sure if now's the time.
Fall is coming up and what I would like to see is a big return to headwear. I'm talking about millinery, cold weather head wraps and full-brimmed stuff. Brands that I love for headwear are: Comme des Garçons and Prada.
Another thing I want to see is more treated and distressed clothing. Brands that have done this well are Maison Margiela and Ralph Lauren (particularly RRL). I think with time this could be something that can become more popular with the use of recycled fabrics and upcycling coming from different designers.
